Why the Millennial Career?

Having graduated at the height of the 2008 global economic crisis, I started my career being happy to have a job - any job. As the years went by, I grew my career into something I am proud of - and love doing every day.

On this journey, I learnt many lessons, and The Millennial Career is the place where I would like to share these with you. We share similar struggles, and I hope that here you will find a place where you can finally say “whew, I thought it was just me!” and get support on your journey to grow your career.

Some things you should know right from the start:

  • It’s ok to be who you are. There is no need to change so you can be good enough. You already are, and you can make an amazing professional just the way you are, by being yourself.

  • We all deserve to find meaning in and love what we do.

  • Create value and put it out into the world - this can be your greatest source of confidence and satisfaction.

Nico

Having graduated with a Master’s degree in Communication from the University of Amsterdam, Nico built her marketing career in the tech industry. As part of the global in-house Creative Agency at a leading location tech company, she was involved in creative projects as a copywriter and content strategist.

Later on, Nico played a key role in repositioning the company as the location technology specialist. She did so through developing their first thought leadership programme, running positioning workshops for its executives, launching the company blog and acting as its editor-in-chief.

In 2020, Nico made the move to higher education to teach Creative Business to bachelor students. She now uses her professional network and expertise in marketing, technology and coaching by teaching, developing and coordinating courses, such as Content Marketing, Influencing your Audiences, Principles of Communication, Professional Identity, International Creative Business and Study and Career Coaching.
